"I liked the way everyone said good morning when my son arrived and the same at the end of the day, everyone took the time to say good bye. Sometimes its the little things that make the biggest impression on kids and I think this made him feel good about attending everyday."
All great camps know that building a tight-knit, educated, and caring staff is the key to providing an excellent environment for our campers. For that reason, we have implemented a staff development program that increases responsibility gradually as skills and experience grow.
It all starts with our LIT program, which allows our oldest campers to transition gradually (over 3 years) into a leadership role under the guidance of our senior staff. A volunteer training year further extends the transition from camper to staff member. Finally, staff progress slowly through a series of positions that provide new challenges and responsibilities as they continue to mature.
All staff meet for "pre-camp" training sessions in the weeks prior to the first camp session to receive training and guidance in programming, behavior management, safety guidelines, and team building. By the time your child arrives at camp, staff are ready and waiting to help them build a summer full of memories.
We Choose Our Staff Carefully
Under the leadership of our highly-qualified head staff, our counselors are fun-loving, creative individuals who have been carefully chosen for their love of children. Most of our counselors are post-secondary students who are pursuing a degree in a camp-related field. All potential staff undergo a rigorous interview process and must provide at least two character references that are carefully checked. Staff receive two formal evaluations over the course of the summer, to ensure that camp operations run smoothly and that staff receive the guidance and support that they need.
New Camper Clause: We are so confident that your child will love camp, we guarantee it! If your child is not a happy camper at the end of the first day, we will give you a full refund.
