Below are brief descriptions of each position at camp. For more detailed information about the requirements and duties of each position, read our detailed job descriptions.
Leader-In-Training (13-15)
Former campers who are interested in becoming counselors may become LITs. Our leaders-in-training learn to become role models for younger kids while providing assistance and support to staff. Teens in this age group who are not former campers may be accepted if spaces are available. LITs are not technically staff, but work with staff as part of a team. Counselor-In-Training (15) / Jr. Counselor (16+)
CITs and Jr. Counselors are responsible for the direct supervision of campers, in partnership with their Sr. Counselor. They assist campers during transition times, supervise campers during mealtime, make sure they apply sunscreen, and generally attend to their overall well-being. CITs/Jr. Counselors lead a few general activities. Former LITs and new staff generally start in this position.
Sr. Counselor (17+)
Sr. Counselors are assigned to a specific age group of campers and are responsible for overseeing their care & well-being during the camp day. Sr. Counselors are also responsible for preparing weekly plans and leading activities in their specialty area(s). New staff may begin in this position if they have sufficient prior experience.
Marketing Officer (18+)
The marketing officer is a spring (May-June) part time position that can be combined with one of our summer positions. The marketing officer assists the director in planning and presenting community events, as well as preparing and distributing marketing materials to help spread the word about camp.
Unit Leader (18+)
The unit leader is responsible for supervising all of the staff and campers within his or her unit. He/she keeps track of the individual needs of campers and enforces safety guidelines.
Head Counselor (20+)
The Head counselor is a model instructor as well as an expert in his or her specialty area. While continuing to work with camper groups directly, they also aid and support counselors with the planning and implementation of programs. The head counselor enforces safety guidelines and supervises additional camp functions such as camper drop off and pick up.
